Workshop type

Full-day workshop.

Focus

The main goal of this workshop is to:

  1. discuss research challenges with respect to the digital transformation of manufacturing environments with Asset Administration Shells and digital twins.

  2. discuss promising use-cases and applications of Asset administration Shells

  3. discuss the implementation of the AAS and digital twins, and the integration of these concepts into existing system architectures

  4. discuss the virtualization of assets and production processes with Asset Administration Shells

  5. discuss practices and experiences from industry with applying AAS and digital twins

We solicit papers around the use, practical implementations, and experiences with Asset Administration Shells and Digital Twins that cover a wide range of research topics with a focus on the digital transformation of manufacturing and the digitization of value chains, such as described below:

Novel concepts for plant digitization with AAS
  • Experiences with type 1, type 2, and type 3 AAS in practice

  • Asset Administration Shells for products, resources, tools, and processes

  • Languages for inter-AAS communication and negotiation

  • Machine learning supported by AAS

Architecture challenges when implementing AAS
  • Integration of AAS with streaming data

  • Concepts for hierarchical AAS registries

  • Experiences with integrating AAS with existing systems, e.g. for product tracking, ERP systems, MES systems

  • Experiences with retrofitting of devices with AAS

  • Experiences with setting up AAS in industrial contexts

System and plant architectures with AAS
  • AAS based plant architectures

  • Scalability of Asset Administration Shells

  • Virtualization of plants and manufacturing processes with AAS

  • Maintenance and updating of AAS and AAS meta models over longer time periods

Security aspects
  • Sharing data with Asset Administration Shells

  • Data privacy and data sovereignty with Asset Administration Shells
